Overseas Missions: Begin Here
As the U.S. component of a global mission agency, we are eager to provide churches with resources for strengthening their mission outreach. Every sum mer we offer short-term opportunities for college age young people to serve in different parts of the world.
We offer “Pathfinder,” a one day seminar designed to help people with short-term mission experience to determine what next steps they could take. For those considering missionary involvement for two or more years, our “World View” seminar provides a helpful introduction to the global ministries of OC International globally. More about WorldView.
PathFinder Seminar Details
“Pathfinder” is a one day workshop (usually a Saturday) designed for people who have had exposure to missions through short-term experiences. Hosted by a local church, “Pathfinder” helps attenders understand the path to longer-term missions service. This practical workshop has exercises designed to assess a person’s ability to work in a team context. More about PathFinder. Attenders also receive reminders about discerning God’s will, as well as gaining a better understanding of the various kinds of missions involvement available. Contact us for further information and to discuss scheduling a “Pathfinder” in your church.
Short-Term Experiences with OC International
STEP – a summer cross-cultural experience designed for college age young people. Every summer, OC International offers one or more short-term experiences to one of our countries of service. These trips are overseen by experienced missionaries who know the host culture and can provide important orientation and guided ministry activity. Depending on the context, the ministries vary from evangelism, discipleship, children’s clubs, and local church encouragement. Please contact OC for information.
Sports Ambassadors – OC International was one of the early groups that used sports as a means for sharing the good news of
Jesus Christ, through its “Venture For Victory” basketball teams. Many veterans of these teams have gone on to provide quality Christian leadership in a variety of capacities. Sports teams are still regularly equipped and sent out from church and Christian schools. In addition, SA director, Rob Cook, puts together teams made up of individuals who desire to use their basketball for God’s glory. Contact OC for More on Sports Ambassadors.
Local Church teams – Increasingly, local churches desire to arrange for their own congregation to raise up a team of people who want to go together and minister cross-culturally. OC desires to facilitate this process, in cases where a church does not know where to go, or where they feel the need for pre- or post-trip orientation from an experienced missionary. OC is happy to provide such orientation where staff are available.
